----------------------------

Hi my name is Ethako, and I'm looking for some 3d modelers on behalf of Vector8games. We are currently working on a game/mod called Modern Dead. Modern Dead is a physiological, horror Fps. We are going to integrate first person rag-doll and much more features. The reason this is a game/mod is because we are using Valves engine so there for its really more of a mod.

Okay so we are currently trying to leave the concept stage of our game and to do that we need 3d modelers; we have level designer and lots of the map has been finished but not show yet.

Also this is for portfolio work you will not be paid none of us are we are just making this game for portfolio work and for the fun of it.

You can check out the mod here, [link]

If you would like to join and help us out with our game/mod than please email me at Vector8Games@gmail.com.

Thanks,
Ethako

Hi, I didn't know if the members of your group would be interested in 3D Ocean - [link] It's a marketplace like iStockPhoto but specifically for 3D modellers and animators. Earn money from your 3D models!

New Section to Gallery

Mon Dec 21, 2009, 11:46 AM by =Athey:iconAthey:
I've added a new folder that you can submit art to. It's called I want Critique, and it's here: [link]

All other folders have a certain standard of quality required for art to be accepted into it, but you can submit any 3d art into the I Want Critique folder, as long as you are looking for actual C&C on that piece.

==============

Q. Who Can Submit Art to the club?
A. EVERYONE. Even non-members can submit art.

Q. How is art accepted?
A. The Club Contributors vote on each piece submitted to the gallery. If a Contributor submits art, it takes 2 votes to get in. If a member submits art it takes 5 votes, and if a non-member submits art, it takes 7 yes votes to get in.

Q. How do I submit art?
A. Go to the gallery and you'll find a + sign at the far right-hand side of each section name. You can click that and then choose to either submit new art, or submit something already in your gallery.

Q. If anyone can submit art, why become a contributor?
A. Contributors are members who have to vote on accepting or denying new pieces of art, and new members to the club.

IF YOU WANT TO BE A CONTRIBUTOR, PLEASE NOTE IN THE APPLICATION MESSAGE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THAT YOU HAVE TO VOTE AND PARTICIPATE, AS A CONTRIBUTOR!

A lot of people apply as contributors thinking that they have to be one in order to submit art, but that is not the case. If all you want is to submit art, but don't want the responsibility of helping to run the club, then just apply as a member.

Submitting to the Gallery

Wed Dec 16, 2009, 12:34 PM by =Athey:iconAthey:
Anyone can submit art to the gallery

I repeat - ANYONE. You don't even have to be a member.

So if you have a tutorial, or a model sheet you'd like to share, but don't really want to join the club, you can still submit your art.

Art is posted on a voting system. It has to meet a certain quality standard to get displayed in the gallery. The quality system is rather arbitrary at the moment, but we'll work through it as the club grows and progresses.

To submit something, Go to the gallery - > [link]

You will notice that there are sections. Featured, Tutorials, Modelsheets, etc.

On the right-hand side of each section title bar there is a + symbol.
If you click that + you get two options:
-Submit New Deviation
-Contribute Existing Deviation

1. Choose which section your submission should go into
2. Click the + sign in the right-hand side of it's name.
3. Submit your deviation - new or existing. If existing, it'll let you search through your devs and pick one.

Done.

Now it will go to vote.

Contributors only require 2 votes to get their art in.

Members require 5 votes to get their art in.

Non-Members require 7 votes to get their art added to the gallery.

Only Contributors and Admin's can vote.

Converted to a Group!

Tue Dec 15, 2009, 4:08 PM by =Athey:iconAthey:
Okay, everything is still very very in-limbo, and I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to getting it all set up immediately, but I'm gonna keep working on it over the next few days so things can start to get running more smoothly.

I've converted this club into a group. I had to let the club sort of die out quite a few months ago because I was pregnant and busy and didn't have time to manage it. Groups are nice in that it doesn't rely on a single person to make sure things keep running smoothly. :)

When you apply to join the group there are two groups you can apply for. Contributors and Members.

You can all submit things to the gallery, although there's no guarantee that everything will make it in. But you can all try submitting. The main difference between a member and a contributor is that contributors can vote on who can join, and what submissions are accepted.

If you join as a contributor, your message center will be bombarded by application notices every day, so if you don't want to deal with that, and don't want the responsibility, then DON'T APPLY AS A CONTRIBUTOR.

If you really want to be a contributor, ideally, you will also have art to contribute. Either 3d art, reference sheets, or tutorials.

Taking Model Sheet Submissions

Always accepting Model Sheet Submissions for 2D artists (and 3D artists of course) who would like to share their designs with other 3D artists to use! Just send a note with a link to the deviation! You don't even have to be a member of the club.

Expanded Submission Guildlines

Some simple guidelines about submissions:

I usually won't post more then 2 images from a single artist at a time. If you come back a couple months later with another two submissions, I'll probably post them. But don't come submitting stuff every week! You have your own gallery for that!

If you send me a list with 5+ deviations for submission, I will pick two of them to post.

If you submit a WIP version of something, and then later want to submit the finished version, I will be EDITING the WIP version, and replacing it with the new one. This means that the new one won't be getting front page exposure (although the update of the deviation will go into people's dev watches, so it won't go totally unnoticed)
So if you would rather just get the finished version up to the front, don't submit a wip.

Generally, I will only post a WIP if it looks good as a WIP and is a good demonstration of process. We don't want to flood the gallery with unfinished work. Try to keep it to finished works.

Also, I'm afraid we cannot accept any submissions that were made using any downloaded resources as a significant part of the piece. Basically, if your piece features a character that you downloaded for DAZ / Poser, and you modified and textured it, we still cannot accept it. If you're image is an indoor scene and all of the furniture in the piece was downloaded, but you lit the scene and modeled the room, we probably cannot accept it. If it's a large expansive outdoor scene, and some trees in the distance were downloaded, we may accept it, as long as the downloaded content is not in any way, the focal point of the image.

If your image description does not mention or credit that any content was downloaded, but when I look at it, I suspect that some content was downloaded, I will not post it.

And lastly, I do reserve the right to not post submissions based on quality. I try to keep the club open to any 3d modelers who would like to submit their work, but if a submission is just too far below the quality standard, it may not get posted.

Rules for Joining

To Join the club, add the club icon to your journal, add the club to your devwatch, and send us a note requesting membership.

You can also link to one or two of your best deviations that you'd like to submit to the club gallery.

To qualify for membership you don't have to be a 3D artist. You can also be a 2D artist interested in submitting model sheets for 3D artists to use.

And if you don't want to join, you can still feel free to add the club to your watch list for tutorials, articles, interviews, model sheets and more.
